Independence Day marked with blood
Another crime as a revenge. Around 9pm a youth who was considered to be the prime suspect was shot . Unfortunately Violence seems to have no end in Chaparron.

Activities to commemorate Independence Day
Several activities were held in our town to commemorate the 188th anniversary of our country's independence. These included a gymnastics competition by the Madre Teresa College students and a torches parade in the evening.

Fr. Mario Nicolas Arriaga named new parish priest
Today, at the end of a two day retreat for the parish priests of the Jalapa diocese, Bishop Mons Julio Cabrera nominated Fr Mario Nicolas Arriaga as the new parish priest of the "Jesús Crucificado” parish of  San Manuel Chaparron for the term 2010 -2015.

A new parish priest for our parish of San Manuel Chaparrón
Next Tuesday, 8th September , Bishop Julio Cabrera Ovalle will announce the new parish priests for all the parishes of the diocese of Jalapa including our parish. After almost 12 years as parish priest of San Manuel Chaparrón, Fr Anton will be replaced by another priest. He is expected to be assigned to a new parish.......

A man is shot inside a bar.
Violence seems to have no end in our municipality. This time the crime took place inside a bar near the municipality hall.
Don Tiburcio Sandoval was shot by a person after a discussion. He was shot four times and is now in a very serious condition at Jalapa's hospital.

Death of Carlos Dionisio Diaz
Early this morning, the educator  Carlos Dionisio Diaz, husband of Lidia Gutierrez passed away. He has been ill for a long time. His funeral will take place tomorrow and will be buried at the town's cemetry.
God grant him eternal peace.

Two permanent deacons from the USA
Two permanent deacons Edward and Gabriel from South Carolina are visiting our parish for four days to support our projects.
It's the first time that a permanent deacon has paid us a visit. They both work for Caritas in their respective dioceses.

Relatives of Fr Anton visiting San Manuel Chaparron.
After the visit of the youth group from the USA , five relatives of Fr Anton are visiting our parish for one month. They are helping in several parish projects. The group includes his sister and cousins.
